# Analyze performance

> Choose comparable dates, metrics, attribution, and reporting levels.

Use **Insights** to compare advertising performance across accounts, campaigns, ad sets, and ads.

## Build a report

1. Open **Insights** and choose the **Ad account**.
2. Set the **Reporting period**, or enter a **Start date** and **End date**.
3. Choose the entity level under **Show data for**.
4. Choose daily rows or period totals under **Show results as**.
5. Select a supported breakdown under **Break down by**.
6. For purchase analysis, choose the **Purchase type** and attribution setting under **Count purchases**.
7. Set **Sort by** and **Order** to find the results you need.

Use the same dates, conversion event, and attribution window when comparing campaigns. Check currency and time zone when comparing accounts.

## Use your agent

> Compare my Meta campaigns for the last seven complete days. Use purchase ROAS with the 7-day click attribution window, exclude campaigns with less than 100 in spend, and show the five highest and lowest results. Include currency, data-through date, and any warnings.

Your agent should resolve accounts, then use `insights_rank` for a compact ranking. For daily rows or breakdowns, it should call `insights_capabilities` before `insights_query`.

Structured metrics such as `actions` and `action_values` require explicit `action_types` and `attribution_windows`. The agent should ask you which event and window to use if the question leaves them unclear.

## Check completeness

The query result includes `complete` and `next_cursor`. Follow the cursor while preserving the query filters. A page of 25 rows can be only part of the report.

Use the account time zone and returned period fields when comparing dates. Check `data_through` and warnings in ranking results before treating a period as final.
